A Love Affair with Birds
Sue Leaf, author of "A Love Affair with Birds: the Life of Thomas Sadler Roberts", will give a talk and sign copies of her book in the meeting room of the Northfield Public Library on Tuesday, February 4 at 7:00 PM. The book is the first full biography of Roberts, the father of Minnesota ornithology. Roberts was a physician, professor of Ornithology at the University of Minnesota and founder of the Bell Museum of Natural History. Roberts was a mentor and friend to local physician and birding enthusiast Dr. George Rysgaard. Leaf, an avid birding enthusiast herself, will elaborate on the Northfield connection in her talk. The book was listed as one of the top 10 books for 2013 in the Dec. 27, 2013 edition of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
The talk is free and open to the public. For more information or to make disability arrangements please call the library at 507-645-6606.
